The monitor itself is really cute. I like that it is shaped like an owl, I’ve never seen a shaped monitor before. My daughter seemed to think it was cute as well.

I’ve had other baby monitors before, and I do think this one is comparable. I don’t think it was any better or worse than other affordable range monitors. I thought I would really love the two way talking feature. I was excited to try that part out. My daughters room is on the upper level of the house, so I thought the talking back feature would be helpful with soothing my 18 month old before I got to her room. However, it had the opposite effect. She was annoyed and frightened by me talking to her in the monitor. I think that part might be better for tiny babies, as opposed to toddlers who know that you’re not by them. So while I thought that feature would be a selling point for me, I don’t actually use it.

I did love the night light. The light is bright enough to let you see, but it’s not too bright. It gives off just the right amount of light. I also love that it has a great range! I’ve tried it all over my house, and out to the mailbox. It still worked great even at the mailbox. That was impressive. The sound is also very clear. I feel like sound and range are the two most important aspects of an audio only monitor. It was also very lightweight and compact, which was nice!

The only downside, in my opinion, is that it didn’t seem to hold a charge very well. I felt like I didn’t have the adult end monitor on very often, but I still had to charge it every night. But other than that, I do think this monitor is worth buying! It’s especially great for someone who doesn’t need something fancy and overly priced. I think that this is a great little monitor overall, and would recommend this to my friends or family who are in need of a baby monitor!

You can purchase the VTech Safe and Sound Audio Baby Monitor DM225 at Babies R Us for $49.99.
