After making his announcement, Aaron spoke with People about becoming a father. “This is what we both want. We both were trying for it. I’m just focused on the future and being a dad. I want to be a good dad. I’m focused, my music career has been doing really well, and touring, having my clothing line out, all that stuff I have going for me that isn’t necessarily just music. Family is most important to me.”

Aaron and Melanie made their relationship official in January when Aaron shared a picture of the couple together for the first time. A few months later in March, the couple was involved in a domestic dispute. The L.A. County Sheriff’s Department was called to Aaron’s home on the evening of March 29 for a domestic violence call. Melanie was taken into custody and held on $50,000 bail. The charges have since been dropped.

This wasn’t the first time in the last year that Aaron found himself in a domestic issue. Back in September, his brother Nick Carter, one of the members of the Backstreet Boys, filed a restraining order against his younger brother after he threatened he was going to kill Nick’s pregnant wife and unborn child.

Now, Aaron has claimed to turn over a new leaf and wants to focus on the future and starting his family.
