Amy Schumer’s newborn son’s name honors a friend
One day after welcoming her first child, comedian and actress Amy Schumer has revealed the baby’s name. Posting a sweet photo of her husband, Chris Fischer, cuddling the swaddled newborn, Amy wrote, “Gene Attell Fischer and his dad Chris.”
The name Gene is of English origin meaning “well born;” it was first used as a short form of Eugene. Many are speculating that the middle name of Attell is to honor her good friend, comedian Dave Attell.
Schumer and Fischer married in 2018; baby Gene is the first child for the couple.
