Last year’s Bachelor, Arie Luyendyk Jr., and wife Lauren Burnham have been sharing updates from the hospital for the past couple weeks, anxiously awaiting @babyluyendyk to arrive. Burnham finally went into labor yesterday morning and documented most of the day on Instagram. Both were posting emotional clips with teary eyes, and playing prediction games guessing the weight, hair color and eye color of their soon-to-be daughter. At about 3PM on Wednesday May 29th, Alessi Ren Luyendyk was born at 6lbs 13 oz (Lauren’s weight prediction was closer!).
The couple announced their pregnancy only six months after their season of The Bachelor ended, and two months before the couple wed in Hawaii (the wedding officiated by Chris Harrison, of course!) While the couple caused a stir in Bachelor Nation at first– after Arie changed his mind about his first engagement on the show, going back to Lauren whom he had already sent home– the couple seems to be very happy and eager to step into their new role as parents while fans are glad to see another success story come from the show.
“Mommy and baby are doing great, we are so incredibly happy,” Arie shared after the birth. “I’m so proud of you @laureneburnham… You’re truly incredible and you did so good today.”
Luyendyk and Burnham have gracefully accepted their new role as social media personalities after the airing of their season, and have been generous with life updates from their home in Arizona. Since Alessi has already had her own Instagram account since the pregnancy was first announced, I’m sure we’ll all be able to enjoy snapshots and video of her growing up as soon as everyone is home and rested.
