Professional dancer and choreographer Derek Hough is going to be a dad! The Dancing with the Stars pro and his wife Hayley announced they are expecting their first baby together. The couple shared the news with a touching video on Instagram.
The couple’s slow-motion video begins with Derek walking towards his wife and the two embrace. As Hayley wraps her arms around her husband, her baby bump came into view and her hand held out a string of sonogram images. “We can’t believe the biggest thing to happen to us could be so small,” Hayley wrote in the caption. The couple didn’t reveal when their baby’s sex or when their little one is due to arrive.
Fellow DWTS pros flooded the couple’s post to congratulate them on their news. Dancer Mark Ballas commented, “Baby Hough is not even ready for Uncle Mark, Auntie BC + Cousin Banksi play dates about to go TOO HARD.” Dancer Britt Benae Stewart wrote, “Truly no words can match this blessing!!!! Auntie Britt is ready! Love you both so much.” DWTS alum Lindsay Arnold gushed, “so beyond happy for you both! This is the best news.”
Derek and Hayley first met in 2014 after she was cast as a dancer in Derek’s and his sister Julianne Hough’s Move Live Tour. The two started dating in July 2015 and were together for seven years when they got engaged in June 2022. The couple tied the knot one year later in August 2023 in Monterey County, California. Just a few months after their wedding in December 2023, Hayley underwent an emergency craniectomy after being hospitalized with a cranial hematoma, a condition when blood collects in the skull. Months after her surgery, the dancer shared his and his wife’s plans for growing a family. “We definitely want to have a family eventually. We’ll see what’s in the cards, what’s on the horizon. Little dancing children running around.”
