Entertainment journalist Jason Kennedy has announced that his wife, Lauren Scruggs, is pregnant with the couple’s first child! This exciting baby news comes after four and a half years of trying to conceive. The couple faced fertility struggles and went through an IVF journey to have their dream of a family realized.

To announce the news, Jason shared a video of him discovering that his wife was pregnant. Lauren had left a positive pregnancy test on the nightstand for Jason to find. After seeing the test, the couple embraced. Jason shared in his caption, “It’s happening and this is how I found out. So many of you have prayed for us and wished us well on this 4 1/2 year journey. Our hope is that this news encourages anyone going through IVF or any fertility struggle. Thanks for caring and always asking for updates, it feels nice to be loved and we love you back.”

The couple discussed their exciting news exclusively with People and went into detail about this journey to becoming pregnant. “It’s always tough when a doctor tells you you can’t have kids naturally,” the producer shared, “and you keep running into complications, but we didn’t sit and wallow in that. We were really blessed to meet with some amazing doctors and specialists.”

Lauren shared that, “The hardest part probably was having four alarms set every day for months taking medicine.” Jason added that “one time Lauren had to be rushed to the ER because of unbearable pain a few days after the egg retrieval. Not to sound cliché, but it really has brought us even closer together because we have never been through this before, and it’s been really special supporting each other.”

Congratulations to Jason and Lauren on the news of their pregnancy! We wish them good health and lots of love as they prepare to welcome their first child into the world.
