Actress KJ Smith is going to be a mom! The Sistas star walked the carpet at the BET Awards with her husband, fellow actor Skyh Black, debuting her baby bump, her first baby. She also let slip the sex of her little one.
While walking the red carpet at the award show at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, The Family Business star wore a stunning green gown with cut outs throughout, the dress hugging her curves to show off her growing baby bump. In an interview with PEOPLE, she also accidentally revealed the sex of her baby. It’s a girl!
The actress shared with the news outlet how her body was reacting to the pregnancy and revealed she had morning sickness and “all the cravings.” But she then shared that lasagna and French friends didn’t sit well with “her,” referring to her baby. KJ clapped her hand over her mouth at the slip up while her husband laughed lovingly and shared, “She’s been telling me the whole time [to keep the secret]!” She went on to explain how she would tell him, “If you tell I’m going to… Every time someone asks him, I give him the death stare.” She then lamented on her accidental reveal, “I have mom brain!”
The All the Queen’s Men star shared that he’s excited to be a “girl dad.” He shared, “To know that I’m going to be a girl dad … I’ve bought so many things from 0-6 months that she’s telling me to stop. I’m elated!” His wife added, “Every day is a new ‘girl dad’ t-shirt for him and her… he’s like, ‘Look what I got!'” As for whether the couple has a name picked out for their daughter, the actress shared, “Yes we do — and that I will keep secret!” The couple met on the set of Sistas and started dating in January 2021 and got engaged that December. They went on to tie the knot at the Malibu Dream Resort in California in September 2023.
