The Young and the Restless star Melissa Claire Egan has announced the arrival of her first child! Melissa, 39, and her husband Matt Katrosar welcomed their newborn into the world and shared all the details with People Magazine.
It’s a boy! Melissa and Matt shared that they’ve named their newborn son Caden Robert Katrosar! Caden is an American name that means “Fighter,” while Robert is an English name that means “Bright Fame.” Caden arrived into the world weighing 7 lbs. and 7 oz. and measuring 20 inches long.
In an exclusive statement to People, the couple shared, “We are overjoyed to welcome Caden Robert Katrosar into the world. Everyone is healthy and doing well, we’re so grateful for all the love and well wishes along our journey to get here. We’re awestruck by this little man and can’t believe he’s ours.” Melissa shared a message of thanks to her medical team as well. “Huge thanks to all the amazing doctors and nurses at Cedars Sinai who have taken such good care of us!”
Melissa, who has portrayed the role of Chelsea Lawson on The Young and the Restless since 2011, also gave nod to her on-screen births. “Although this is my first child in real life, I’ve had very dramatic on-screen births on The Young and the Restless. Once after falling through a lake, I delivered my son on the show in a cabin. The other time, I went into labor at my wedding and delivered a baby right there in my wedding dress. So this was a breeze compared to that!”
