Retired NFL player Tim Tebow is officially a dad! The quarterback and his wife Demi-Leigh announced the birth of their first baby together. The couple revealed they were pregnant in January.
The couple shared a series of black and white images from their time in the hospital with their newborn. Demi-Leigh gave birth to a baby girl, whose sex the couple revealed in March, on July 6th. “Our daughter is here! We couldn’t be more grateful for the blessing and gift of this new little life.” Demi-Leigh teased in the caption of the post, “We can’t wait to share her name with you soon.” Shortly after sharing their daughter’s birth announcement, they went on to officially reveal her name: Daphne Reign Tebow.
When sharing her daughter’s name, Demi went into detail about the meaning behind each moniker. “Daphne is a name that’s been close to my heart since I was a little girl,” the model shared before revealing the special family connection. “I never got to meet my mom’s mother, but her sister, Daphne, stepped in as a grandma figure to me. She was so special to my mom and I — a tiny, kind and strong South African woman who always had shortbread in the house, was the epitome of grit and grace, loved Jesus, had the voice of an angel and made everyone feel seen and special. I used to tell my mom, ‘I want to be just like Ouma Daphne one day.’ I’ve loved this name since I was a little girl and for as long as I can remember I always said that if I ever get blessed with a daughter, I’ll name her Daphne. Shortly after Tim and I got married, I shared that desire with him, and thankfully he loved the name just as much as I did!”
As for the name Reign, the moniker was inspired by someone the couple met together. “And Reign… it’s a name that holds so much meaning. It’s inspired by a precious little girl Tim and I have loved deeply for years. Her story has shaped our hearts in ways I can’t even begin to explain. But more than anything, her name reminds us that when you’re adopted into God’s family, you become a child of the King. You were made to rule and reign—not in power, but in purpose, love, and identity.”
In Daphne’s birth announcement post, the model expressed her gratitude for those around her for their support throughout her birth and pregnancy journey. “We’re so grateful to the whole medical team that assisted us in the best way possible during my labor and delivery. From our doctor to our nurses and all the hospital staff — we are so grateful and thankful for you.” She also took a moment to thank her family, friends, and fans. “Thank you to everyone who’s been praying with us over her arrival. We are so incredibly thankful for all of the love and support we’ve felt.”
The former Jacksonville Jaguars player met his now-wife in 2018 at an annual charity event hosted by Tim’s foundation. In July of that year, the NFL player confirmed the couple was dating. In January 2019, the couple got engaged and they got married one year later at the La Paris Estate in Cape Town, South Africa. For his wife’s birthday last month, the football player gushed in an Instagram post, “Every day with you is a gift, but today we celebrate you. Your heart, your strength, your joy, your faith. It all inspires me more than words can say. Here’s to many more birthdays, adventures, and purpose-filled days together.”
