This past June, actress Trina McGee announced she was pregnant with her fourth baby at age 54. Now, Trina, most notable for her role as Angela Moore in the 90s TV series Boy Meets World, has sadly revealed she miscarried her baby, who would have been her first with her husband Marcello Thedford. The actress shared the news during an interview on The Tamron Hall Show.
Two days before joining the talk show host, Tamron and Trina spoke on the phone where the actress shared that she lost her baby. “You revealed to me that you were no longer pregnant,” Tamron shared at the top of the interview. The Classmates star confirmed, “I did lose the baby,” before opening up about the experience. “It wasn’t expected, it was closer to the end of the first trimester. We don’t have any real reasons why.” Despite losing her baby, Trina shared, “I was still so grateful to have the experience of being able to conceive at this age and this time.” She went on to explain that she had “a lot of depression” and that “it was hard to get out of bed” after the loss.
In speaking about the loss, Trina reflected on how it feels when an experience you wish for won’t come to fruition. “There are so many things that come when you really want a family and you want your family to be complete. There are so many dreams that you have. It was hard to face the fact that that’s not going to happen at this point in the junction.” This little one would have been Trina’s first baby with her husband Marcello Thedford. The Daylight star shares two adult children with her ex-husband Cortland Davis, Ramia and Langston. She also has another adult child named Ezra from another relationship.
Trina revealed in her interview that she and her actor-producer husband has been trying to conceive and that she turned to “natural remedies” to aid in the process. When she became pregnant, she was eager to share the news and explained her decision to speak about it then and now after her loss. “There were so many women who, even at 55 and older, still want to get pregnant or don’t want to be boxed into this ‘geriatric pregnancy’ thing. I don’t know if I’m here to give advice for everybody, because everybody’s body is different, and you should listen to your doctors.”
As for whether the couple will continue trying to have a baby together, the actress revealed, “Part of me doesn’t ever want to go through this again. The conclusion I came to is, we’ll just keep loving each other, if something happens that way, fine, but I don’t want to put another anxiety on myself. Sometimes it really is better to let go and let God.”
