Singer Kimberly Perry is ready to embark on a new journey. The member of the country music group The Band Perry is expecting her first child with her husband Johnny Costello. “Here we go!”
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Kimberly shared, “Johnny and I are overflowing with joy to announce this beautiful bundle of love. This is a brand new season for us — new love, new life, new baby, nothing better!” The songwriter’s baby is due to arrive in August. In her announcement post on Instagram, the “If I Die Young” singer shared how becoming a mother is something she has always wanted. “Building my own family is something I’ve dreamed about for as long as I can remember. As a woman and as an artist, I’ve always felt like I had to make a choice between growing my career and growing life. But YALL – I’m doin’ em both at the SAME TIME!!”
News of Kimberly’s pregnancy comes on the heels of The Band Perry announcing a hiatus from music. The band featured Kimberly along with her two brothers: Reid and Neil. When sharing in March that they would be taking a step back from the band, they announced were going to “take a creative break as a group and each focus on our own individual pursuits.” Earlier this month, Kimberly took the first step towards her solo career by signing with Records Nashville.
Kimberly and Johnny secretly tied the knot in a Vegas wedding in June 2021. The couple kept the news secret for six months before announcing their marriage that December. In a now-deleted Instagram post, “The Good Life” singer wrote, “Wishing everyone a very MARRIED Christmas. Today my love, @juannycostello, and I are celebrating 6 months since ‘I do!'” She revealed that the couple drove from Los Angeles to Las Vegas and got married at midnight on June 17th. “It was wild and wonderful and reminded me all over again that God is the most glorious creator and the master of the most beautiful blueprint for our lives!” she wrote at the time.
