Backstreet Boy band member Nick Carter welcomed his third child with his wife Lauren Kitt Carter in April of 2021. The couple did not reveal their newborn’s name at the time. They have now shared the news, including the inspiration behind their name choice.
Nick and Lauren welcomed a second daughter into the world and have named her Pearl! Nick shared exclusively with Us Weekly that “funny enough, that [Pearl] was the name Lauren wanted to give to Saoirse.” Saoirse is the couple’s first daughter, who was born in 2019. “Essentially, we kind of gave up on the name,” Nick continued, “but Lauren really liked Pearl. Then we discovered that we were going to have another baby. That’s when I was like, ‘Listen, let’s go with what you wanted.’ So she became Pearl.” On the name choice, Lauren shared that she liked the idea of a one-syllable name because they “needed something easier to say than Saoirse.”
During their interview with Us Weekly, the couple also discussed how they chose their daughter Saoirse’s name. The couple watched a movie called Song of the Sea while Nick was on tour. “I fell in love with this little girl character who was, like, the little sister of this older blonde boy,” Nick explained. “They were brother and sister, and her name is Saoirse.”
Nick and Lauren also have an older child, a son named Odin who arrived in 2016 and was born in April like his sister Pearl. Congratulations again to Nick and Lauren on the arrival of their third child!
