Retired NFL player Tim Tebow is going to be a dad! The former quarterback and his wife Demi-Leigh Tebow announced they are expecting their first baby together. “We are just so excited and so over the moon to be having a baby together.”
The couple announced the news with an Instagram video that showed them during a photoshoot where Demi wore an all-white dress and Tim was dressed in light colors. They showed a reel of sonogram images and clips of the NFL player holding his wife close. They set the video to the song “I Get To Be The One” by JJ Teller. The 2017 Miss. Universe captioned the video, “Baby Tebow .”
The couple spoke with PEOPLE in an exclusive interview sharing their excitement about growing their family. The former Jacksonville Jaguars player shared that he and his wife are “honored for the privilege of getting the responsibility and the joy of being mom and dad.” Demi, who is 16 weeks pregnant, gushed about becoming a parent with Tim sharing, “I’m so grateful because I just couldn’t imagine a better life partner to do life with first and foremost. To be able to raise a little tiny human being together. I’m so grateful that Tim is my husband… that we get to do parenting together.”
Tim and Demi met in 2018 at his annual charity event, Night to Shine, a worldwide prom Tim’s foundation throws for individuals with special needs. He confirmed the couple was dating in July of that same year. The football player proposed to Demi in January 2019 and exactly one year later, the couple tied the knot in Cape Town, South Africa at the La Paris Estate. In his interview with PEOPLE, Tim lovingly spoke about the kind of mother his wife would become. “[Demi] is going to be a fierce defender and protector. She will be extremely loyal and loving. Demi is someone that is extremely determined. When she sets her mind to something, she goes all the way in — and I know that she will do that as a mom, too.”
