Athletes Michael and Sophia Wilson are going to be parents! The USWNT player and NFL player announced they are expecting their first baby together. “Life just keeps getting sweeter.”
In a joint Instagram post, the couple shared images from a maternity photoshoot where the soccer player held a string of sonogram images. The couple’s baby news comes a few months after the athlete discussed her desire to become a mom. In an interview in November of last year, Sophia shared that she felt it was her “calling to be a mom.” As for how that works into her career, she shared, “my career, it has to stop for a period of time when I am pregnant so that’s not something we can just let happen at any moment. We’ve been patient for a long time.”
During the same interview, the Arizona Cardinals player shared how he and Sophia manage their relationship as they both have demanding careers as athletes. “It always comes back to we’re going to see it through regardless. She is the most special person I’ve ever been around, and knowing we’re together keeps me humble and grounded because I know I’ll never find another person like her again.”
The Olympic Gold Medalist and the wide-receiver tied the knot earlier this year in January after getting engaged in June 2024. The couple first started dating in 2019 after meeting at Stanford University, where they each played their respective collegiate sports. On her husband’s birthday last month, the Portland Thorns player gushed in an Instagram post, “Happy birthday to my best friend. You make life so bright and sunny and snuggly and happy. I love you ❤️☀️.”
