Oscar award-winning actor Robert De Niro, 79, has revealed surprising news about his family. The actor has recently welcomed his 7th child! Robert announced the news with ET Canada during an interview for his new movie About My Father.

Prior to announcing this news, Robert was known to have six children from three previous relationships. He shares children Drena, 51, and Raphael, 46, with his ex-wife Diahnne Abbott, 27-year-old twin sons Aaron and Julian with ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith, and Elliot, 25, and Helen, 11, he shares with his ex-wife Grace Hightower. Robert and Grace divorced in 2018 after more than 20 years together. During his interview, the interviewer said, “I know you have six kids,” to which the Cape Fear star corrected, “Seven, actually. I just had a baby.” No details are known about Robert’s 7th child, including who the mother is.

With Robert’s upcoming film focusing on the story of a father and son relationship, the actor opened up about his own experience with fatherhood. The Amsterdam shared that while he believes “in being loving with kids, he sometimes has to be stern about stuff. I mean, there’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But, [sometimes] you just have no choice and any parent, I think, would say the same thing. You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can’t.”

Robert also touched on parenting his second youngest child and what’s to come with his newborn. “You know, my kids disagree with me at times, and they’re respectful. My daughter, she’s 11, she gives me grief sometimes and I argue with her. I adore her, but, you know. And my youngest now, that’ll be more to come. But, that’s what it is.”

Congratulations to Robert on the arrival of his newest family member! We hope he continues to enjoy his role as a father.
