Actors Trai Byers and Grace Gealey, who co-starred together in the series Empire as Andre Lyon and Anika Calhoun respectively, are expecting their first child together! The couple revealed the news as they walked the red carpet for Trai’s opening night for The Piano Lesson on Broadway.
As the couple walked the red carpet, Grace wore a stunning pink dress while hugging her baby bump, with Trai taking turns holding her growing bump as well. The actress shared an image from the night to her Instagram alongside the caption, “Happy Opening Night on your Broadway Debut, my beloved King!! Words absolutely fail when it comes to describing how deeply and overwhelmingly proud we are of you.” The couple did not share when their first child is due to arrive.
The Harlem star became engaged to her co-star in 2015 and prior to their engagement, there had been rumors the couple was dating but the news had not been revealed publicly. The couple tied the knot on April 14, 2016, in a beach wedding on Grand Cayman.
This past July to celebrate Grace’s birthday, Trai penned an emotional post for his wife. “My sweet wife, To write you on the day of your birth fills my cup. What I did in this life to experience the once in a generation love you give me, I’ll never know. Your love is the proof of God’s love for me.
