Actress Danielle Savre, who portrays the role of firefighter Maya Bishop on the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Station 19, has shared that she helped her friend start a family. The actress revealed that she donated her eggs to her childhood best friend Chris Ogden-Harkins, and his husband, Jacob Ogden-Harkins.
The actress donated her eggs to Chris and Jacob and the couple’s surrogate is pregnant! They will be welcoming a daughter this November and they’ve already chosen her name – Aspen Grey. The couple hope their story will serve as inspiration to others who are looking to grow their family. Danielle shared with ABC News that she hopes their story “makes people less scared about approaching” the topic.
Chris and Jacob are extremely grateful to Danielle, who had to work around a hectic filming schedule to accommodate doctor’s appointments, for her kindness throughout the whole process. Chris shared, “She’s been so open, so willing to let us share, and be excited about our journey,” Chris said of Savre. “And letting people know who are wanting to start a journey of their own, you can do it in many different ways.”
Jacob continued Chris’s sentiment by saying, “Everyone’s blown away by what you can do now with science. It’s amazing. It’s beautiful. Not to sound corny, it’s magical. It’s been amazing. Thanks to Danielle.”
Congratulations to Chris and Jacob on this exciting news and a huge thank you to Danielle for openly sharing this incredible story. We wish this new family all the best on their journey!
