Actress Issa Rae had recently been speculated to be expecting her first child. The assumption was made following a video where some believed Issa looked pregnant. Now, the Insecure star has come out to debunk the rumor.
Issa took to her Twitter to share a message to end the rumors. “I am not pregnant, f*ckyouverymuch. LET A B*TCH EAT DRINK AND BE MERRY.” The actress’s hilarious message was a nod to the video in question. The video that left fans wondering if she was expecting showed Issa dancing and celebrating with friends, a drink in her hand. The actress was excitedly greeting her friend and Insecure co-star Yvonne Orji. The event where the video was shot was a festival touting Black creatives hosted by the actress at the Kennedy Center in D.C.

The Little star, who has been very private about her personal life, tied the knot with her longtime partner Louis Diame last July. The couple was married in the south of France in an intimate ceremony. The actress cheekily shared the news on Instagram with a caption that joked she had an “impromptu photo shoot” wearing a custom Vera Wang gown. The images she shared also featured her bridesmaids and her new husband.
Last September, the executive producer actually opened up about starting a family… which she doesn’t plan to do anytime soon. In fact, Issa isn’t even sure kids are in her future. She shared with Self Magazine, “I like my life, I like this selfishness, and I know that I have a window. I’ve always felt that way, that women, Black women especially — unless you’re Viola Davis or Angela Bassett — you have a window when people are going to want to continue to see you and see what you can do.”
Issa continued by sharing about her goals. “There are so many limitations placed upon you, and that does keep me up. I want to do as much as I can while I still can. I know it’s not the proper mentality to think that kids will slow you down, but I do feel that way.” Children may or may not be in the cards for the actress, but if she does decide to have children, we hope she’s given the opportunity to announce the exciting news on her own.
