Actress Odette Annable (née Yustman) revealed some exciting news on Mother’s Day. The Walker star and her husband Dave are expecting their second child together! The couple shared a touching video to reveal the news that showed them announcing the news to their 6-year-old daughter, who was incredibly excited to become a sibling.
The black and white video posted by the couple showed their daughter Charlie Mae opening a box with a baby inside. Charlie was in shock to learn the news and became very exciting, dancing and hugging her parents. “It’s been a very long journey to get here, but we are here and we are thrilled and couldn’t be more grateful,” Odette wrote in the caption of her post. “A new chapter begins. A very special Mother’s Day indeed.”
News of the couple’s pregnancy comes one year after the actress revealed she had suffered her third pregnancy loss. After having Charlie, Odette and Dave, who have been married since 2010, had tried for another baby and suffered two pregnancies losses. The couple split up briefly in October of 2019 but reconciled the following August. Following their reconciliation, they began trying for a baby again and became pregnant, but they lost the baby. She shared the loss on June 8th, 2021, which was her baby’s due date. “The one thing that was certain was how Dave and I both felt when I found out I was pregnant. We were elated. After having two miscarriages after Charlie and after our personal journey as a couple, we finally felt like we were in the right place and our gift was this baby in my belly.”
The black and white photo of herself holding her stomach that accompanied the post was taken in December 2020 when she was 15 weeks pregnant. “I was 15 weeks pregnant when this photo was taken back in December and today would have been your due date. There was another plan and our baby is no longer with us.”
The House alum opened up about why she felt it was important to share her story. “I share this because what you see on a social media page isn’t always what’s going on in real life. My social media page consists mostly of a highlight reel. I try to keep it as authentic as I can, but I also largely focus on the positive because that feels good to me. But this is real and this is part of life. The really hard stuff that you never think or want to come your way.”
Odette candidly shared how the experience of a pregnancy loss made her feel and how it affected her outlook on her family. “I miss feeling this sweet baby grow but I also know that it was a gift carrying our baby and a privilege for even the short time we spent together. It never felt right to not share or celebrate this moment in our life, I just needed the space to do it. I have found that there are always silver linings in the hard things if you look closely. And they are without doubt my husband and my daughter. This experience has given me a new appreciation for my husband who was a rock for me and was unwavering with his support even though I know he was feeling it all as well. It made me marvel at what a miracle Charlie is. What a miracle and a blessing it is to have a healthy child. I am so grateful for my family. We love you always and forever little angel.”
