Actress Stephanie Beatriz, 40, who portrays the role of Detective Rosa Diaz on the series Brooklyn Nine-Nine has announced that she is expecting her first child with her husband Brad Hoss. The actress, who identifies as bisexual, chose to share the exciting news during Pride Month and spoke with People Magazine all about her journey to parenthood.
Stephanie shared that she never used to see herself as the type to settle down with a husband and child. “I didn’t think that a committed partnership was really for me,” she told People. “I couldn’t really see kids. It wasn’t that I was closed off to it. It was more that I couldn’t quite see how a baby fit into the life that I was building.” Her viewpoint changed when she met Brad. But the actress pointed out that her marriage doesn’t make her “any less queer.” She went on to say that, “I was able to be my fullest, most authentic self around Brad. He’s extremely empathetic and open.”
The In The Heights star became engaged to Brad in October of 2017. The couple tied the knot the following October of 2018 at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The guest list including many celebrities including Andy Samberg, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, and Angela Kinsey.
Stephanie and Brad shared that they are committed to raising their child to believe in equality for all. The Brooklyn Nine-Nine star shared, “I think one of the best things you can do is raise a kid who understands that however a person chooses to shape their one glorious life is worthy of celebration.”
