There must be something in the water over at ABC; yet another former Bachelorette is pregnant! Desiree Hartsock Siegfried and her husband, Chris, have just announced that they are expecting their first child together.
The couple, who became engaged during season nine of The Bachelorette, married on January 18 of 2015. They celebrated their first anniversary with a trip to Maui where they discovered they were pregnant (on Valentine’s Day!) Hartsock told Us Weekly, “I kind of knew, like, ‘You know something? I might be pregnant.’…That’s when we took a test and found out!”
The happy couple took to Instagram with their announcements. Desiree wrote, “We have a bun in the oven and it’s not the warm pastry kind! We are beyond excited to share that we have a little one on the way!! A new chapter we are both looking forward to.” Siegfried, a mortgage broker, posed with a ‘Baby Daddy’ mug and wrote: “I can’t tell you all how excited I am and we are to be having a little Siegfried! No matter what we have, [boy or girl], we are so happy!”
Judging by the hashtag “#October” on Hartsock’s post, baby Siegfried will arrive this fall. Until then, Siegfried will be busy catering to his wife’s pregnancy cravings. She told Us Weekly, “Each day is something new. Like one day I’m like, ‘Babe, I really need Italian.’ And then the next, it’s Mexican and the next it’s dessert for dinner…He’s just so supportive and if I’m craving ice cream, he’s like, ‘OK, let’s go get it!’”
It is no wonder many are calling 2016 the year of the Bachelorette Baby Boom – in addition to Hartsock, three more former Bachelorettes will welcome babies this year: Jillian Harris, Ali Fedotowsky, and Emily Maynard.
