Buckingham Palace issued a statement with the news. “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in early 2021. The Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York, Mr and Mrs George Brooksbank, The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh are delighted with the news.” Shortly thereafter, Eugenie shared the news to her Instagram page.

Eugenie’s baby will be the first grandchild for her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and will be the ninth grandchild of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.

Eugenie and Jack met in 2010 in Verbier, Switzerland at a ski resort area in the Swiss Alps. Jack was a friend of her cousin, Prince Harry. There was an immediate connection between Eugenie and Jack. After dating for a year, they made their first official appearance as a royal couple at the Royal Ascot in 2011. Jack popped the question in January 2018 while the couple was on vacation in Nicaragua.

The couple tied the knot in October 2018 at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, the same venue Prince Harry and Meagan Markle tied the knot in May of that same year.
