Dear White People star Ashley Blaine Featherson is starting her family! The actress announced she and her husband Darroll Jenkins are expecting their first baby together. Ashley also detailed her journey with IVF in her pregnancy announcement video.

The couple shared a joint video on Instagram set to Beyoncé and Rumi Carter’s song “Protector” and referenced the song choice in the caption of their video. “Even though we know someday you’re gonna shine on your own, we’ll be your projectors. Born to be your protectors.” The couple began their video with a message for their firstborn. “See you soon. We love you,” Ashley shared. “We hope you look like us, but you’re probably just gonna look like him,” she joked, referring to her husband. “But I really hope you look like me a little bit,” the Trials to Triumphs podcast host continued, “just a little bit, that would be amazing.”

The video went on to document the couple’s IVF journey, showing the actress at doctor’s visits and taking injections. The couple also documented the emotional moment they learned they were pregnant. They also shared that their family was “very happy” learning the news. The Grand Crew star and her husband ended the video sharing their little one’s due date: “Coming Soon August 2024” with a pink heart emoji. Throughout the video, the couple revealed they are expecting a baby girl!

Ashley and Darroll were friends before their relationship turned romantic in 2018. The couple got engaged in 2020 and went on to tie the knot in September 2021. On their anniversary last year, the actress shared a fun throwback image from their wedding on Instagram and wrote, “Year TWO & Still On This Vibe! Forever US.”

Congratulations to Ashley and Darroll on the news of their first baby!
