Congratulations to Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife, Sophie Hunter, who just welcomed their second child earlier this month, People.com reports.
The Sherlock star and his theater director wife settled on the name Hal Auden Cumberbatch. Hal is of English origin, meaning “army ruler.”
Sophie first confirmed her pregnancy in October, showing off a baby bump at the L.A. premiere of her husband’s film, Doctor Strange. Benedict’s rep said at the time, “Everyone is thrilled.”
The actor told Vanity Fair in November: “Having a baby, it’s massive. And on a very unexpected level. Suddenly I understood my parents much more profoundly than I ever had before.”
Benedict and Sophie were married on Valentine’s Day in 2015. Their newest addition joins older brother Christopher, who is almost 2-years-old.
