Professional surfer Bethany Hamilton is a mother of two! The athlete shared a video of her newborn with her family to announce the little one’s arrival. This new baby is Bethany’s fourth child with her husband Adam Dirks, a minister.
Bethany and Adam have welcomed a baby girl! They also revealed the name they chose for their first daughter. “Meet our beautiful daughter Alaya Dorothy Dirks!” The surfer went on to express her gratitude for becoming a mother again writing, “We are feeling really grateful to God for the blessing of family. We are honored for this opportunity to raise our children, to love, serve, protect and guide them through life!”
Baby Alaya joins the family with three older brothers, the couple’s children Tobias, Wesley, and Micah. For Father’s Day earlier this month, the “Surfing Past Fear” author penned a touching post for her husband. “I’m celebrating Adam today, who is such an amazing Father to our children. I could cry thinking about how I scored such a super dad and husband. Even as our family grows, he continues to prioritize time with each child in a way that makes them feel truly cared for and secure. And he’s just so fun! I’m so grateful for how he loves us!”
Shortly after announcing Alaya’s birth, Bethany, who has been documenting her pregnancy frequently, shared a poignant post about being present in life and as a parent. “One of my favorite things to talk about is being PRESENT in life. I like sharing about it because I struggle with it at times! And I find that it’s a continuous journey or balance.” She went on to share what she does to stay present. “Few things i do daily and or weekly- ( or aim to do ) If I’m on my phone and my children come up to talk to me: I either pause and look them in the eye and listen, or I ask them to wait a sec and I’ll be with them when I finish soon. A full day off of my phone a week. Time in Nature with loved ones and no other distractions.”
