Rapper Da Brat, whose real name is Shawntae Harris-Dupart, is a mom! The musician has announced the arrival of her first baby with her wife Jesseca. This little one is baby number four for the entrepreneur.
Da Brat and Jesseca have welcomed a son! The couple announced the sex of their baby in an elaborate gender reveal party in March, where the couple went all out in pink and blue attire and accessories. The couple’s son was born on July 6th at 8:30 PM and they chose to name him True Legend Harris-Dupart. “We are overwhelmed with love,” Jesseca wrote in an Instagram Reel announcement that was reshared by the rapper. “Very appreciative for such a blessing of our bundle of joy. This journey has been more amazing than we could’ve ever imagined.”
The “What’Chu Like” singer opened up about her son’s birth exclusively with PEOPLE. “I can’t BELIEVE he came out of me! Feels like a dream. He’s PERFECT in every way.” On his name, Da Brat joked, “His name had been True Legend Harris-Dupart but now that we’ve met him we are tempted to name him PERFECT.” True joins the couple’s family with the Kaleidoscope Hair Products founder’s three children. Jesseca has a daughter named Deja and two sons named Byron and Jay.
When the 49-year-old announced her pregnancy earlier this year, she shared that the experience has “been quite a journey. There’s a lot of stuff we learned about women over the age of 40. I never thought I was going to have kids. I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me.” After she started dating Jesseca, her outlook on becoming a parent changed. “I started looking at life so differently. I was like, I want a little me with you. Something special from the both of us that we can share and raise and love unconditionally.”
