Singer-songwriter Ellie Goulding has welcomed her first child into the world. The singer’s husband, Caspar Jopling, announced the exciting news on his Instagram Stories. It appears the news is still quite fresh as there are very few details available yet about Ellie’s birth.
In sharing the news, Caspar posted an image of flowers to his Instagram Stories and shared “Mum and baby both healthy and happy. Extremely grateful.” He also asked for privacy during this special time. “I don’t ever address the public attention that comes with Ellie’s job. But during this magical time and personal moment we would appreciate being able to enjoy our privacy.”
Ellie announced back in February that she was expecting her first child with Caspar. She shared the news exclusively with Vogue Magazine along with stunning images of her. She was 30 weeks along at the time of her announcement.
Since her announcement, Ellie has grace the virtual and physical pages of various other magazine publications including Paper and Stella. In her feature with Paper, Ellie discussed the opportune timing of her pregnancy. “”All I wanted to do was go on tour with it,” referencing her latest album, Brightest Blue. “And you know what? If I had gone on tour with the album, chances are, I would not be pregnant right now. I mean, I’m just going to be honest — they really don’t go together. And obviously, certain things need to occur to become pregnant.”
The pandemic allowed Ellie to keep her pregnancy under wraps. She and Caspar isolated in their country home together. This allowed them to announce the news when the time felt right for them and avoided the singer being captured with a growing bump in public.
