NFL broadcaster Erin Andrews is officially a mom! After a 9-year fertility journey, reps for the sportscaster confirm she and her husband, former NHL player Jarret Stoll, have welcomed their first baby via surrogate. The news broke earlier today with a rep officially confirming the news to TODAY.

Erin and Jarret have welcomed a son and have named their little one Mack. News of the couple’s child comes after trying to grow their family for nearly a decade. The couple, who began dating in 2012 and tied the knot in 2016, had not previously announced they were expecting a baby.

Erin has been open about her journey to start a family. The sportscaster was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2016 and had a successful surgery to remove it. Prior to that, she and Jarrett had frozen embryos, which was a blessing in disguise. A year later, she shared with Health, “It definitely took a serious turn for us. I’m not young, we don’t know when we’re gonna have a baby, we don’t know if this is going to come back. One thing I love my future husband for is that our oncologist said the smart thing to do would be to have some insurance waiting—so we have frozen embryos because we’ve taken the steps. If we need ’em, we need ’em; and if we don’t, we don’t. We just wanna be smart.”

In 2021, Erin shared a raw post on Facebook Bulletin discussing going through her seventh round of IVF and how her journey had impacted her at the time. “I’m now 43, so my body is kind of stacked against me. I have been trying to do IVF treatment for a while now, but sometimes it doesn’t go the way you want it. Your body just doesn’t allow it. Every cycle is different in a woman’s body, so some months are better than others. When I heard this was the best time to go through another treatment, I had to figure it out all over again. How am I going to juggle this treatment on top of my work schedule? I got so stressed out. When this happens, it really makes you question: is it the future of my family or is it my job?”

She went on to share why she chose to discuss her IVF journey more publicly. “I decided that this time around, I would be open with my show producers about having to come to work a little later than normal because I was attending daily fertility appointments. And I am thankful I did it. They encouraged me to be open about it because this is real life. Instead of feeling ashamed, we need to give ourselves more love. It freaking sucks because it can seem like it’s such a lonely thing. There are so many of us going through this though, and it’s just not talked about.”

Congratulations to Erin and Jarret on the news of their first baby!
