Gwen Stefani didn’t let April Fools’ Day pass without getting a little dig in at the tabloid rumors she faces on a daily basis. The singer, who scored her first number one album with This is What the Truth Feels Like, posted a sonogram photo on her Instagram account with the words, “It’s a girl” followed by heart emojis.

Pregnancy rumors have dogged the No Doubt frontwoman since she started dating fellow Voice coach Blake Shelton. Her beau confirmed the post was a joke when he replied to a Tweet from a fan about the announcement with a simple “Ha!!!!

While some of her followers were quick to get in on the joke, noting the suspicious timing of the announcement, others felt that the post was in poor taste. A few of the 9,387 comments she received (as of publishing time) included:

@dawnewig – “People who struggle with infertility don’t find it funny.”

@tessa10.29 – “This is a huge insult! Infertility is a hard, long road that some people never get the chance to have a child of their onw. Shame on you @gwenstefani.”

@claudiathecat – “A simple reverse image search would reveal that this is indeed a sick April Fool’s Day joke. That’s pathetic. Millions of women are unable to get pregnant and yet you make a joke about being pregnant when you aren’t. Not funny, I don’t care what day it is.”

What do you think, Babynames.com readers? Is it ever okay to joke about a fake pregnancy, regardless of what day it is?  What would you say to Gwen Stefani?
