Frances Bean Cobain and Riley Hawk are parents! The daughter of musicians Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love and son of pro skate Tony Hawk announced the surprise birth of their first baby together. The couple hadn’t previously shared that they were expecting.

The model took to Instagram to announce the couple’s news, sharing a series of black and white images of their newborn baby. Frances revealed that she and Riley welcomed a son on September 17th and named him Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk. “Welcome to the world most beautiful son. We love you more than anything.”

Famous friends and family of the couple celebrated baby Ronin in the comments of Frances’s post. Riley’s dad Tony Hawk commented, “My favorite grandson!” Zelda Williams, the daughter of the late actor Robin Williams, gushed, “Ahhhh! Congrats!!!!” R.E.M. frontman and Frances’s godfather Michael Stripe wrote, “With all the love and energy in the whole world.” Harper Grohl, the daughter of Dave Grohl, who recently welcomed his own newborn, commented with excitable emojis: “♥️♥️♥️♥️” Frances’s father, who passed away in 1994, and Harper’s dad were both members of the band Nirvana.

Frances and Riley first confirmed their relationship in 2022 after posting photos together on Instagram. The couple tied the knot in October 2023 in an intimate ceremony. The Victorian-inspired wedding was officiated by Michael Stipe. While the couple infrequently posts on social media, the skateboarder shared a throwback image of the couple’s wedding in honor of Frances’s birthday last month. He wrote simply in the caption, “Happy birthday to my queen!”

Congratulations to Frances and Riley on the birth of baby Ronin!
