Gotham co-stars Ben McKenzie and Morena Baccarin have welcomed their first child together. Their representatives confirmed the birth yesterday, stating: “Morena and Ben are so happy to welcome baby girl Frances Laiz Setta Schenkkan on March 2. All are happy and healthy and appreciate the well-wishes.”
According to the LA Times, “Frances is [McKenzie’s] first name, and Setta is Baccarin’s mother’s maiden name. Schenkkan is McKenzie’s real last name; he uses his middle name as his surname professionally.”
The real life couple’s on screen characters are also expecting a baby; the timing of which Baccarin called, “a total coincidence.”
Frances is the first child for McKenzie. Baccarin has a two-year-old son, Julian, with her husband, Austin Chick; the estranged couple have been involved in a very public divorce and custody battle for several months now. Baccarin has stated that she and McKenzie have plans to be married once her divorce is settled.
