Rapper Iggy Azalea welcomed her first child into the world in June of 2020 with her ex, fellow rapper Playboi Carti. She managed to keep her entire pregnancy a secret. Now, the “Fancy” singer is firing back at trolls for making fun of her 1-year-old son.
Last week, Iggy shared a picture on Instagram of her son, whom she named Onyx, wearing an alligator costume. The image was met with cruel, distasteful jokes about the 1-year-old. The rapper didn’t hold back and she took to Twitter to shut down the comments. “Imagine being so miserable that you bully a one-year-old child for picking his own outfit. Y’all so corny and bored and it’s really a damn shame.”
Some responded back to Iggy sharing that there was no “ill intent” and that the comments were simply jokes. The “Black Widow” singer vehemently disagreed. “My child is not a sub-brand for his father’s fans to obsess over or clown on because the reality is that y’all don’t like his mom so you think it’s cute to be rude about a baby and what funny stuff he wears,” she tweeted. “Know that I will smack you in person, and so will his dad.”
Now, Iggy has issued a statement on sharing images of Onyx online. “I’ve decided I won’t be posting about onyx or sharing images online anymore,” she tweeted. “Y’all not about to be out here playing with my baby on my watch, nope!” We stand with Iggy’s decision and commend her on making the choice she feels is best for her child.
