Reality stars Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner announced last month that they were expecting their third baby together. Now, the couple, who met and got married on the reality TV series Married At First Sight, have shared exciting new details about Jamie’s pregnancy. “Surprises are so dang fun!”
The couple teased the news on Instagram with a video that showed Jamie, Doug, and their two kids, Henley Grace and Hendrix Douglas, dancing by the pool. “We got the most shocking news…” read the text on the video, “the best surprise of our lives & we are so excited to share with you.” In the caption, Jamie wrote, “WE GOT THE MOST SHOCKING, AMAZING NEWS AT OUR FIRST ULTRASOUND FOR THIS PREGNANCY!!😭🙏🤰🥳 If I had known we’d get such great news I would’ve made sure my husband was there, but I was like ‘oh this will be our third baby! He’s seen this before! It’s fine if we start without him!'” The official news was revealed in a video on the couple’s YouTube page.
In the video on the couple’s channel “Hanging with the Hehners,” Jamie documented her first ultrasound appointment. She went without Doug since it was the first appointment and their third baby. However, she received surprising news during the ultrasound: she’s pregnant with twins! She ended up having Doug meet her to see the ultrasound and he was shocked to learn the news.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Jamie discussed how she felt about learning about her twins. “I’ve always wanted to be a twin mommy. My little sister and brother are twins, but my mom said it’d skip my generation and go to my kiddos, so I never expected I’d end up with twins!” The couple had been trying to conceive for over three years, so the news of twins was even more shocking after conceiving naturally. “After 3+ years of trying, we didn’t think we could be any more excited than simply finding out we are finally pregnant again and the pregnancy is healthy. BUT TWO! We are over the moon excited (and a wee bit scared! Ha!)”
