Jeannie Mai Jenkins, co-host of the talk show The Real, welcomed her first child with her husband, rapper Jeezy, a few weeks ago. The couple didn’t reveal the name they chose for their child… until today!
Jeannie posted a video on YouTube with a tour of Baby J’s nursery and revealed the name that she and Jeezy, whose real name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, name: Monaco Mai Jenkins. The talk show host went into great detail on the beautiful meaning behind baby Monaco’s name.
“The theme to Baby J’s nursery is actually Baby J’s name,” Jeannie shared before going into detail about how the couple came to the name. “I thought Baby J’s name should be a J name because obviously Jeannie and Jeezy make sense. But that wasn’t the name that came to us. What really came to us was how Baby J came to fruition for us when we were dating.”
Jeannie then walked over to a picture on the wall, an image that she took of a bridge in Monaco during one of the couple’s travels together. Jeannie then recalled a memory of when the couple was on that bridge. Jeezy asked her, “What kind of life do you want with me? What do you want to do in this life? What dreams do you have?” the rapper asked his then-girlfriend.
Jeannie later took a solo trip and visited this bridge to relive this moment. “It’s the first place Jay and I traveled to when we were dating and it’s the first place that we ever established what’s going on with us. We had had a 3-hour talk on this bridge so I decided to walk that bridge by myself. I facetimed Jeezy and we had the best date night talk on that bridge. My now-husband at a time that a year ago, I did not know what life could hold for us, and I wanted everything.” Jeannie went on to share that she didn’t know what it meant to want everything. She just “knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him, I wanted to build with him, I wanted to grow with him. I wanted us to bear fruit together. And I saw that it meant so much more than just kids. It meant family and visions and hopes and memories. And it all happened here,” she ended, referencing the bridge in Monaco. Jeannie then officially revealed Baby J’s name: Monaco.
