Congratulations to actor Kelsey Grammer and his wife, Kayte, who welcomed a baby boy on November 14.
The actor’s rep confirmed the baby news to Us Weekly, with details that he weighed 7 pounds at birth, and explained, “Both mother and son are doing great.”
Kelsey and Kayte named their new addition Auden James Ellis, though he will go by his middle name. The couple explained the unique choice in a statement: “The name was chosen to honor the great poet W.H. Auden, and James is after another great poet and singer, James Taylor — two of our favorites.”
What a beautiful tribute. Ellis is a family name, Kelsey’s great grandfather, who they explained “was a colorful character, to say the least, and we wanted to give the name a second chance.”
Auden is of English origin and means “half Danish.”
This is the seventh child for Kelsey! The couple have two other children together, Faith, 4, and Gabriel, 2, and he has four children from previous relationships: Spencer, 33, Greer, 24, Mason, 15, and Jude, 12.
