Rapper Kendrick Lamar appears to have confirmed the birth of his second child! In honor of the Grammy winner’s upcoming release of his fifth studio album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, Kendrick shared the cover art to his album that featured his family, which included a newborn baby.
In the cover art for the album, which is being released on May 13th, shot by Renell Medrano, Kendrick is seen holding his first child, a daughter he reportedly welcomed in July 2019, in front of a bed. On the bed, his fiancée Whitney Alford sat holding a newborn baby. The couple had not previously revealed that they were expecting a second child together.
Kendrick has been notoriously private regarding his personal life, so to see a snapshot of his family is quite a rarity. Kendrick and Whitney are high school sweethearts and became engaged in 2015. The “HUMBLE” singer confirmed the news during an interview with The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1. He confirmed rumors the couple was engaged by sharing, “Yeah, definitely. I’m loyal to the soul.”
A year prior to that in 2014, he made a rare admission in a New York Times Magazine profile about his partner. “She’s been here since day one. Everybody that’s been around me has been around since day one and I can’t change that. I don’t change for nobody,” Lamar added. “People that have been by your side – you’re supposed to honor that.”
