Leave it to Charles! Country star Charles Kelley and his wife Cassie welcomed their first child together, a son named Ward Charles Kelley, on February 11th. Baby Ward weighed in at 7 lbs., 9 oz., and measured 20 inches long.
Kelley took to Instagram shortly after Ward was born with the news. “Can’t stop staring at this little nugget. he has [Cassie’s] nose, yay! and he’s so calm unlike his father. glad I didn’t head up to [The Grammy’s] events this week or I would’ve missed the coolest day of my life ha!”
Charles and Cassie married in 2009 and publicly discussed their fertility struggles after announcing their pregnancy in August of 2015.
Of his son’s name, Charles had previously told People that the couple wanted something “unique,” adding, “most of the names on my side of the family are taken, so we found a really cool name that we both like on her side of the family.”
Kelley is currently working on his solo career while his band, Lady Antebellum, is on hiatus. His first single, The Driver, which featured fellow country artists Dierks Bentley and Eric Paslay, received a Grammy nomination for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
