Actress Mae Whitman is a mom! The Up Here star announced the birth of her first baby and revealed the name she and her partner chose for their newborn. The moniker is named for a special former co-star of Mae’s.
The Good Girls star shared a close-up image of her partner holding their baby’s toe. She shared that the couple welcomed a son and named him Miles. Mae referenced the recent arrival of Justin and Hailey Bieber’s baby in her announcement. “Not to be a Bieber about it but I too just gave birth to our son, Miles.”
The new mom gushed about her newborn in her post sharing, “From the moment we heard the first tiny sound out of his tiny piggy mouth we were besotted. He is the kindest, gentlest, smartest, funniest little beebee and he’s our best friend. We are infinitely grateful he chose us as his parents.” The actress has not shared any details about her partner’s identity nor their relationship status.
Mae revealed the inspiration for her son’s name and it came from one of her Parenthood co-stars. The name Miles is after actor Miles Heizer, who portrayed the role of Mae’s character’s brother in the NBC series. Since the show wrapped in 2015, the two actors have remained close friends and are frequently spotted together on their social media pages. The Hope Floats star announced her pregnancy this past Mother’s Day. She wrote on Instagram at the time, “Mother’s Day looking a little different this year! Can’t wait to meet you, huge baby kicking my insides to filth!”
