Actress and singer Mandy Moore has announced the arrival of her first child with her husband Taylor Goldsmith!
The This Is Us star is now the proud parent of a baby boy: August Harrison Goldsmith, or, as Mandy shared in her announcement post, Gus for short!
Mandy shared that her son arrived right on his due date, which is actually quite rare! “He was punctual and arrived right on his due date, much to the delight of his parents. We were prepared to fall in love in all sorts of brand new ways, but it goes beyond anything we could have ever imagined.”
Just yesterday, Mandy’s interview on the Informed Pregnancy Podcast went live where she shared with host Dr. Elliot Berlin why she had to scrap her original plans for a natural home birth. “We were very intentional and excited about this prospect of being at home for the birth. I was like, ‘Taylor, I want you to do a playlist, but also I want you to have the guitar on too, ready to play.’ We were really excited about what the whole experience was going to be.” The actress shared that the couple had found fantastic doulas and midwives to help them and “felt so immediately sold on this team that we had assembled, and from very early on in pregnancy, had them both on this journey with us.”
However, due to a health concern related to a drop in her platelets, she had to forgo a home birth. Earlier this month, she shared to her Instagram Stories, “My platelets have been dropping throughout pregnancy and it’s something I never thought about until I got, I’d say early to midway through my third trimester, they sort of started dropping pretty precipitously and fell below the threshold that would make it possible for me to do a home birth.”
We’re thrilled Mandy was able to have a successful birth with her first child and wish her all the best as she embraces her new role as a mother to little Gus. Congratulations to Mandy and Taylor!
