Actress Mena Suvari has announced the birth of her first child with her husband Michael Hope. The American Horror Story star shared the news on Mother’s Day weekend and expressed gratitude and compassion for all mothers by sharing her personal birthing story.
The actress shared with People that she has welcomed a son and has named him Christopher Alexander Hope.
Before sharing her first image with her son, Mena shared a quote image by Patrick Overton that read, “When you walk to the edge of all the light you have and take that first step into the darkness of the unknown, you must believe that one of two things will happen. There will be something solid for you to stand upon or you will be taught to fly.”
To accompany the quote, Mena captioned, “Every step of the way it has changed. My experience into becoming a mother has been so intricately intense, wildly profound, and highly doubtful at times. I found it mystifying, yet wasn’t surprised, when I was thrown a complete curve ball in the end of my pregnancy. I’ve seen, now, how my life has incredible opportunity for learning a lot of lessons all at one given time. And that’s certainly what was going to happen with the birth. But, an immense amount of healing must allow itself be tended to in order to complete the true transformation. We must move forward with the knowledge of what is of our fear in order to transform without the need to be so insecurely held.”
Mena was very open in her first post with her child, whose face was hidden. “When my body froze to try desperately to accept another contraction, you saw strength when I felt only fear. When my body started to fail me and I allowed my spirits to be taken with it, you reminded me we would all be okay, just trust. And when my body fluctuated so dramatically from fluid build up, then loss, causing me to feel 4 times the size out of myself, you spoke of only the great sacrifices you saw when you held my body before you. To all my Mamas, I see you❣️ I feel you, now, deep within. I am grateful for the knowledge, the guidance, the community, the family. The opportunity for the greatest, most important role ever: MOTHER ❣️ Thank you @mikehope__ for our beautiful family and being the #postpartumsupport I need each and every day.”
