Musician Michael Clifford is a father! The 5 Seconds of Summer guitarist has announced the birth of his first baby with his wife Crystal Leigh Lauderdale. “The love of our life has arrived.”
Michael and Crystal Leigh welcomed a daugther, whose sex they revealed in July, on October 30th. The couple named their first baby Lua Stevie Clifford. To share the news, the couple shared a joint post with images from Lua’s first month, which included the musician playing guitar for his newborn.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the couple shared that Lua was born in Crystal Leigh’s home state of Georgia. “We wanted to move here, just for a few years to start our family,” the 5SOS guitarist shared. “All of her cousins just had babies too, so it’s fun. Lua is a Georgia-born half-Australian Los Angeles resident.” Prior to Lua’s arrival, the couple was renovating their new home in Georgia. Of where their family will grow up, Crystal shared, “We couldn’t have picked a better place to live for Lua’s beginning stages. Our home is now her sanctuary. We had our future family in mind when we bought this house, but once she arrived, it felt like that’s when everything really clicked into place and made sense, like this has always been her house.”
The new parents, who announced their pregnancy in June, also reflected on Lua’s arrival, sharing it was a “beautiful experience.” Crystal Leigh shared, “It was such an intimate moment and we’re so glad we were able to have great people to help us through. I don’t think I could’ve done it without the help of our amazing nurse and midwife. They stayed past their shift for us and really went above and beyond in the ways they helped me through labor. Michael was also the most incredible partner, an ’emotional support human’ of the highest caliber!”
