Congratulations to actress Natalie Portman and her husband, choreographer Benjamin Millepied. The couple welcomed their second child, a baby girl, on February 22. Natalie and Benjamin chose a gorgeous name for their newest addition: Amalia, which is of Latin origin, meaning, “hardworking.”
Her rep told People.com: “Mother and baby are happy and healthy.”
The actress cited her pregnancy as the reason she was unable to attend the 2017 Independent Spirit Awards and the 2017 Oscars, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “I feel so lucky to be honored among my fellow nominees and wish them the most beautiful of weekends.”
When she appeared on The Tonight Show in November, she commented about her pregnancy: “It’s weird because I’m a small person in general, so you show a lot faster and a lot more when you’re small.”
She added, “Everyone thinks I’m about to pop and about to give birth any minute, and I have months to go…I went to the store the other day to buy water and the guy at the checkout counter was like, ‘Almost, huh?’ I was like, ‘No! Not at all!'”
The couple met when they worked together on the film Black Swan and were married in 2012. Natalie and Benjamin are also parents to a son, 5-year-old Aleph.
