Queens star Naturi Naughton is a mother of two! The actress has welcomed her second baby, her first with her husband, talent manager Xavier “Two” Lewis. In collaboration with BET, Naturi shared the first photos of her little one as well as the name of her newborn.
Naturi and Two, who announced their pregnancy in February, have welcomed a baby boy on May 27th. He weighed 6lbs., 12 ounces, and measured 20 inches long at birth. The couple chose to name their son Tru Xavier Naughton Lewis. Tru joins the family with Naturi’s first child, a daughter named Zuri, whom the former 3LW band member shares with her ex-boyfriend Ben.
This past April during Black Maternal Health Week, Naturi shared a candid post about giving birth to Zuri and her plans for welcoming baby Tru. “I myself had a harrowing experience in my first pregnancy. I had a C-section, and I really didn’t want to! My water was broken for me, I was induced because I wasn’t progressing quickly enough, and I never got a chance to try to labor. I really wanted a natural birth but unfortunately it was quickly decided that I would have a caesarean. Due to a complication, I was ultimately glad they got my baby girl out safely, but I never really understood what was happening! I didn’t know my options, I didn’t prepare my body for labor beforehand by practicing labor positions and I felt like I wasn’t in control of my birthing experience.”
She went on to discuss her plans for welcoming her second child, gushing over her birthing team. “NOW, in this pregnancy I have a great OBGYN & a Doula, who both happen to be black women & it has made a HUGE difference for me! I feel empowered, listened to, and informed! I’m excited to give birth to #BabyLewis by way of a #VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section) & I feel ready! I’m learning to trust my body and listen to my instincts! I encourage all of you to do the same and don’t be afraid to ask questions! No matter what your preferences are, You deserve answers.” While this was Naturi’s plan for her son’s birth, she has not yet opened up about her actual birth experience.
