Little Mix band member Perrie Edwards welcomed her first child just a few weeks ago. Perrie and her partner, professional soccer star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, became the proud parents of a baby boy on August 21st. Now, the singer has revealed the name she and Alex chose for their son.

Perrie wrote in her caption, “2 weeks of loving you. I’ve never felt love like this before!” She then shared his name: Axel Oxlade-Chamberlain. Axel is a Scandinavian name that means “My Father is Peace.” The name is also the Medieval Danish form of Absalom, or from the Old Norse “Asketill” meaning “god/kettle” referring to a sacrificial cauldron.

The couple announced Axel’s arrival the day after his birth, sharing black and white images of their son, without showing his face.

Perrie and Alex have been together since November of 2016 when they were first rumored to be dating. They officially confirmed their relationship a few months later in January of 2017 after Perrie shared a picture of her and Alex sitting next to their dogs at the dinner table on her Instagram page.

Perrie’s Little Mix bandmate Leigh-Anne Pinnock recently became a mother as well. Leigh-Anne welcomed twins – a detail she didn’t share about her pregnancy until her little one’s arrived – just a few days before Perrie welcomed Axel. Leigh-Anne has not yet revealed the names of her twins.

Congratulations again to Perrie and Axel on the arrival of baby Axel! We hope they are enjoying their new life as parents.
