Columbian rapper Maluma is gearing up for an exciting new adventure: fatherhood! The singer, whose real name is Juan Luis Londoño Arias, debuted the music video for his new song “Procura” at a concert in Washington, D.C. last night, which revealed his baby news.
Throughout the music video, Maluma is shown with his partner Susana Gomez traveling and enjoying each other’s company. The video then cuts to the couple at a doctor’s appointment where the “Felices los 4” singer becomes emotional seeing his little one on the ultrasound for the first time. Continuing with clips of the couple sharing news with family and documenting Susana’s baby bump growth, the video ends with a gender reveal party. Pink smoke filled the air to reveal they are expecting a baby girl.
During the party, there also seemed to be a hint as to what the couple planned to name their daughter. A close-up of Susana showed her wearing a diamond necklace that spelled out: Paris. The rapper later confirmed in an interview with NPR that Paris was their daughter’s name. “Paris, our beautiful daughter, she’s growing inside her mom’s belly and she gives me many reasons to keep dreaming… She’s everything to me right now.”
The “Chantaje” singer went on to express his excitement of becoming a father. “It’s perfect timing. I mean, all the beautiful things that I’m living. I’m looking for more personal experiences too, you know? I love my music. I love being on tour, but I also want to keep growing as a human being, not only as an artist. My dad’s like wait ‘til you hold her in your arms. Wait for that feeling and then wait for them to start walking…’ It’s a beautiful journey, you know I’m here to learn. I think these kids come into this world to teach us a bunch of things so I’m ready to learn. It’s crazy. It’s a crazy feeling that only parents can understand… but I just love this feeling and my days are brighter than ever.”
