Reality star Jamie Otis, most notably known for appearing on reality series The Bachelor and Married At First Sight shared some exciting news on Instagram today. After trying to conceive for 18-months, Jamie and her husband Doug Hehner are expecting baby number 2.
The couple’s TTC journey has been a treacherous one. Within the 18 painful months of trying to conceive, the couple experienced two miscarriages and negative after negative pregnancy tests. Jamie and Doug were actually at an appointment with a fertility specialist when they learned they were expecting.
Jamie and Doug didn’t waste any time waiting to reveal the exciting news. It was just yesterday that they discovered they were pregnant. But, in her caption, Jamie shared, “I am being cautiously optimistic, but I have a feeling this little one is going to stick.”
She also shared that her blood work revealed something interesting. “Based on my last period, I should be about 4 weeks along. The blood work to support this would look like this: progesterone 8-10 & HCG 50-300. My blood work came back like this: progesterone 51 & HCG 1,441!!! This means that I’m either further along OR I could potentially have TWINS! (They said it’s most likely I’m further along but I would absolutely love twins!).” It’s definitely an exciting time for Jamie and her family!
Jamie and Doug, who met on the reality series Married At First Sight, first became parents in 2017 to their daughter Henley. She experienced miscarriages prior to giving birth to Henley as well.
Jamie, who knows what it feels like to suffer from infertility, shared a heartwarming message to moms. “If you’re reading this & are currently in the process of #ttc – oh mama, my heart hurts for you. I know the instant internal pain that comes from another’s pregnancy announcement – even if you are or at least want to be – happy for the lucky couple. I just want you to know that your rainbow will come too. The storm can’t stay forever. Hold onto hope! I am thinking of you!”
