Rock and roll legend Ronnie Wood will turn 69 on June 1st, but he had great reason to start celebrating a little early! The Rolling Stones guitarist and his wife, Sally, welcomed twin girls on May 30th.
The couple, married since 2012, released a statement following the twins’ birth. “Ronnie & Sally Wood are delighted to announce the birth of their twins Gracie Jane (6lb) & Alice Rose (5.7lb). The girls arrived on 30th May at 10.30pm and all are doing brilliantly. The babies are perfect.”
Wood has four grown children from previous marriages and ten grandchildren. Little wonder, then, that he was feeling prepared for the challenge of twins. He told Hello, “I’m going to be changing the nappies and all that goes with it. I’m looking forward to all that. I’m unbelievably lucky and unbelievably blessed. I love all my kids. I love being a dad and to have this happening is just wonderful. I’m a lucky guy.”
Sally added that the baby girls were already Rolling Stones fans, saying: “They wake up in the evenings and love music…They were kicking away at a Stones show in Cuba.”
Ronnie is an established and admired artist, in addition to his career as a musician and entertainer. His work has been shown in galleries worldwide; typically featuring pop culture subjects. In February he shared a sketch of his wife and twins on Instagram, revealing the gender of the then-unborn babies with the caption: “Our baby GIRLS are growing beautifully ~ thank you for the love!”
