Last month, news broke that country music star Sam Hunt was expecting his first child. Now, the “House Party” singer has officially confirmed the news and shared details about his little one.

News of Sam expecting a child was revealed in an unusual way. In February, Sam’s wife Hannah Lee Fowler, whom he is now separated from, filed for divorce. The court documents revealed that the couple was expecting a child who is due in May and Hannah was requesting to receive alimony, child support, and primary custody of the child. As for the reason behind the divorce, the documents claimed that Sam was guilty of “inappropriate marital conduct” and “adultery.” While, at the time, it seemed as though the couple may be on the mend following Hannah retracting the claim, it appeared she had filed in the incorrect county, and she refiled.

Sam finally opened up about the news – and the gender of his firstborn – with Country Countdown USA. “I haven’t talked about this, but I have a little girl on the way. I have a baby coming in about 8 weeks.” The “Body Like A Backroad” singer discussed whether he has decided on a name for his daughter. “Not yet, we’re thinking about it. I want her to be in the world before we name her. I want to be able to look at her and decide what name suits her best.”

As for how Sam’s daughter will affect his career, the singer shared, “I blocked out two months at the end of May and early June. Really this year revolves around that big news in my life.”

Congratulations again to Sam and Hannah on the news of their daughter! We wish them all the best as they prepare to become parents.
