Congratulations to Serena Williams and her fiancé, Alexis Ohanian, who welcomed their first child recently.
Serena and the Reddit co-founder had a baby girl, and while WPBF-25 news producer Chris Shepherd first made the announcement on Twitter this afternoon, the couple have not shared the baby’s name.
Shepherd tweeted: “Tennis star Serena Williams gives birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Mom and baby doing well.”
Serena’s sister Venus commented about the baby news to ESPN as she prepared to take to the court (and win!) at the 2017 U.S. Open, saying, “Obviously I’m super excited. Words can’t describe.”
Serena spoke with Vanity Fair recently about her pregnancy and impending motherhood, noting, “I don’t know what to do with a baby. I have nothing…I’ve done absolutely nothing for the baby room.”
