Seth Meyers visited the Today show this week to gush about fatherhood and share the first photo of his son, Ashe Olsen, with his wife Alexi.

The new dad told Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, “Your life completely changes, but it changes so much less than the mother’s life changes.  Mine’s pretty similar except there’s a baby at home in the morning and at night, but I still go to work.”

While Meyers is happy to assist with diaper duty, he admits that his help during the midnight hours leaves something to be desired. He admitted, “I’ve been adding a third wake-up because I have night terrors about where the baby is…So I’ve been waking up, grabbing my wife’s face, saying, ‘I don’t know where the baby is.’ Then I just go back to sleep.”

The late night host explained the meaning behind his son’s name during a monologue on The Late Late Show just after his birth. “We named our son Ashe, which is my wife’s maiden name…I can’t think of a better way to honor what she did,” he said. “The middle name is Olsen, which is my mother’s maiden name,” he became emotional as he continued, “To be able to name him after those two women…”

The comedian joked that, contrary to popular belief, he and Alexi, did not name their son after an Olsen twin. “People have said to us, ‘Ashe Olsen? Do you think people will think you named it after Ashley Olsen?’ And to them I have said, ‘No one will think that … because I’ve long been a Mary-Kate guy.'”
